I'm Demetria Richardson, the instructor and consultant behind Medical Coding Instruction & Consultation. I've spent more than 18 years in medical coding and billing, and I began my career in the military — where precision, documentation, and accountability weren't optional.

That background shapes how I teach. My students are working professionals: billers, coders, and RHIT/RHIA credential holders who don't need theory, they need to be sharper on the encounters that land on their desk Monday morning. The course is structured around real documentation, real code selection decisions, and the reasoning behind them.

I bring the same approach to clinics. When a practice is bleeding revenue through denials or coding at the wrong level of service, I find where it's happening and work with the staff so it stops happening.
